Nebraska 53, Minnesota 51: Brandon Ubel scored 13 points, including five straight during a crucial stretch, as the Cornhuskers closed down Devaney Center with a win over the Golden Gophers.
Nebraska (14-16, 5-12 Big Ten) led for much of the contest, but Minnesota tied the game with 2:15 to play on Andre Hollins' two free throws. But Ubel scored the Cornhuskers' final seven points, including a three-point play with 11 seconds to play, to clinch the win.
Dylan Talley scored 12 points for Nebraska, which snapped a two-game losing streak and avenged a loss to the Gophers on Jan. 29.
Minnesota (20-10, 8-9) was paced by Trevor Mbakwe's 15 points and six rebounds, while Hollins finished with 14 points and six boards.
The Gophers hit 3 of 13 from 3-point range after averaging 5.1 3-pointers per game heading into the contest. Austin Hollins was 0-for-5 from the field, including 0-for-2 from beyond the arc, and held scoreless for the first time this season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Minnesota was hurt by poor free-throw shooting, as the Gophers hit 10 of 20 from the charity stripe. Nebraska hit 16 of 20 from the line. … The Cornhuskers came into the contest avaraging 31.9 boards per game - 289th in the country - but managed to tie the Gophers - whose 39.3 rebounds a game ranked 17th in the nation - in the board battle, 34-34. … Minnesota wraps up its regular-season slate with a trip to face Purdue on Saturday. Nebraska will also finish on the road, traveling to take on Iowa on Saturday.
