Richardson has Wylie hungry for a run at a three-peat
Outside shooting has been a big part of Wylie's two state titles, but their work inside the paint could be a key ingredient to a run at a third consecutive state championship.
"I think were stronger inside this year then we are outside," says senior guard Hailey Brown." If we start feeding it into the post maybe teams will start collapsing on
them and it will open up our shooters."
In the team’s 2011 and 2012 state championship runs, perimeter shooting was their bread and butter lead by the school all time leading scorer, Peyton Little (Texas A&M).
While three point shooting has certainly stayed within the team’s formula to success, strong play from underclassmen like freshmen Brittany Brewer has helped the Bulldogs create a more dynamic and balanced attack on offense which averages nearly 60 points a game.
"We've gone to a little bit more post oriented offense," says first year head coach Kurt Richardson. "There were some growing pains that took the girls a little bit of time to
understand what we were trying to work with in our offense."
Wylie has a bye in the bi-district round of the 3A playoffs, and will play either Levelland or Pampa in the area round.
