The New York Yankees recalled right-hander Jose Ramirez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Ramirez will be optioned back to the minors following Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Yankees are allowed the extra roster spot during the doubleheader since it was not scheduled for the day immediately following last week's rainout.

If the reliever appears in one of the games, it will be his major-league debut.

Ramirez is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in three relief outings for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. He has six strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. Last year, he went 2-6 with a 3.67 ERA in 17 appearances combined between Scranton/Wilks-Barre and Double-A Trenton.
