As the crosstown college football match-up between McMurry University and Abilene Christian University looms this coming Saturday at Shotwell Stadium, the two teams will stoke the competitive fires a little early on Wednesday evening (Sept. 4) at 7 p.m., with the “ACU-McM Wholly Cow Challenge.”
The contest will feature four linemen – two offensive and two defensive – from both schools in an eating challenge at the new Wholly Cow restaurant location at 3121 So. 14th Street in Abilene.
Each competitor will have to eat a “Whole Cow” burger (1/2 pound), a loaded hot dog, a medium order of fries (usually feeds two) and a large shake. There will be two head-to-head match-ups: McMurry’s offensive linemen vs. ACU’s defensive linemen, followed by the McMurry defense against the Wildcats’ offense. In case of a tie, the quickest tandem time to complete the challenge will win.
Wholly Cow is giving a 10-percent discount to students & staff from both schools, just by showing an ID from either institution.
Saturday’s kickoff between ACU and McMurry is slated for 6 p.m.
