The Kansas City Chiefs reached the 75-player roster limit before the Tuesday afternoon deadline after releasing offensive tackle Ryan McKee and defensive backs Kevin Rutland and Damond Smith.

McKee spent last season working as an assistant coach at North Carolina and was attempting a comeback.

The Chiefs face the Green Bay Packers in their final regular-season game on Thursday night. Final roster cuts are Saturday and the regular-season opener is Sept. 7 against the Tennessee Titans.
