HSU looks for fourth straight American Southwest Conference Volleyball Title

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's volleyball team will look for its fourth straight American Southwest Conference title this weekend when it travels to UT-Dallas for the 2013 ASC Volleyball Championship Tournament at the UTD Activities Center in Richardson.

The Cowgirls are making their ninth straight appearance in the ASC Tournament and have won four titles, more than any other school. HSU has been to the ASC final three other times and seven of its first eight trips to the league tournament. HSU is 17-4 all-time in the tournament.

HSU will open the tournament against Texas-Tyler. HSU is 2-0 against the Patriots this season with wins in four and five games. That match is slated for 2:30. A loss against UT-Tyler will send them to a Friday elimination match at 2:30.

Leading the way for the Cowgirls is a strong senior class. Ashley Babineaux, Christine Sas, Tori Martinez and Belle Shaver are four-year lettermen. Addison Zaya is a two-year lettermen and Gabi Martinez is a three-year lettermen. They have combined to go 98-32 and have won three ASC titles.
