SUN CITY, Texas -

Hardin-Simmons’ men’s golf team is in fourth place after shooting a season-best 303 at the UMHB Fall Invitational at the par-72 Cowan Creek Golf Course in Sun City.

Sean Aleman led the way for the Cowboys with a 73, which put him in a tie for ninth place overall. Ryan Hughes shot a 74 and is tied for 13th place. Brandon Heard and Sam Rogers each shot 78 and Preston Godfrey shot an 83.

The Cowboys also took three players that played as medalists. Austin Prior shot a 79, David Buzali shot an 86 and Hiram Benitez shot an 89.

It was the first career collegiate rounds for Rogers, Godfrey and Benitez.

Tyler Junior College is running away from the field after shooting a 4-under par 284. Northwood is second with a 296, Mary Hardin-Baylor shot a 298. Brandon Rougeau of Tyler Junior College leads the individual race with a 67.


The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
