HSU men's tennis falls to Mississippi College in ASC tourney
The Mississippi College men’s tennis team swept through doubles and then kept it up in singles as the Choctaws rolled to a 5-0 victory over Hardin-Simmons in the opening round of the American Southwest Conference Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament. The two teams started nearly five hours after the originally scheduled start time of 2:00 because of persistent rain in Central Texas.
Mississippi College posted 8-5 wins at #1 and #2 doubles and took #3 doubles by an 8-4 count. Dudley Lampton then rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at #5 singles and Jacob Womack closed it out for MC with a 6-4, 6-2 win at #3 singles. The Choctaws were also leading in three of the other four matches when the victory was clinched.
The Choctaws improve to 8-8 on the season and move into a 2:00 PM Semifinal match against U.T.-Tyler on Saturday. The loss ends Cowboys season at 5-14 overall.
