Little change in latest H.S. basketball coaches poll

New H.S. basketball rankings

ABILENE, Texas - The high school basketball regular season is reaching its most important stretch -- the second wave of district games.

This is where teams claim district titles and make their playoff push.

Big Country teams are feeling the heat in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches state rankings.

Boys:

In Class 4A, the Wylie Bulldogs stay put at fourth with a home game against Snyder on Tuesday, and an off day on Friday.

In 2A, the Albany Lions defeated Anson and Roscoe last week, but dropped a spot to land at number 17 in this week's poll.

In Class 1A, the Jayton Jaybirds and Eula Pirates both hold steady at 12th and 13th, respectively, while Abilene Christian lost two positions in TAPPS 3A and is now fourth.

Girls:

On the girls side, the Brownwood Lady Lions won the colossal District 5-4A re-match with Wylie to sweep the regular season series against the Lady Bulldogs. Brownwood was rewarded by climbing to 15th in this week's poll, while Wylie remained in the 17th spot.

In the smaller classifications, no news was good news for most.

The Jim Ned Lady Indians are cemented to Class 3A's number four spot with a 22-6 record, while the Haskell Maidens wrapped up a second straight district title last week and are still #21 in Class 2A.

In 1A ball, Hermleigh remains undefeated with a 23-0 mark and is ranked third in the state. Ira, May and Eula each held on to their spots at #10, #11 and #12, respectively.
