Mavs enter draft seeking stability for roster

DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks are ready for some roster stability after two seasons of quick fixes since the franchise's first championship.
Dallas has the No. 13 pick in the NBA draft on Thursday night. It's the highest spot for the Mavericks since 2000, the year owner Mark Cuban bought the team.
The Mavericks figure to find new partners for Dirk Nowitzki, or decide to keep some of the old ones, in free agency starting next week. After all, Dallas enters the draft with three vacancies in the starting lineup and just two picks.
Dallas needs a point guard, a shooting guard and a center after the one-year experiment of Darren Collison, O.J. Mayo and Chris Kaman didn't work.
The Mavericks also have the 44th pick in the second round.
