McMurry University will play host to the 2013 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Central Region Tennis Championships this coming Friday (10 a.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m.), April 26-27. The team tourney will feature three women's and three men's teams, playing a round-robin format.
Competing on the women's side will be Southern Nazarene University (Bethany, Okla.), Dallas Baptist University (Dallas, Texas) and host McMurry University (Abilene, Texas).
On the men's side, Dallas Baptist and McMurry will also be entered. The third men's team will be Central Christian College (McPherson, Kan.).
The winner of each of the divisions will advance to the NCCAA National Championships in Mobile, Ala., on May 7-10.
The Central Region women's bracket features two nationally-ranked teams in the latest NCCAA poll. Dallas Baptist is rated No. 5 in the country, while Southern Nazarene checks in at No. 8.
McMurry's War Hawks' are the No. 6-ranked men's team in the NCCAA and the only ranked men's team in the Central Region tourney.
A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for McM's newly-renovated Seidel-Swagerty Tennis Center will take place on Friday (Apr. 26) at 9 a.m. prior to the beginning of the NCCAA event.
