The Snyder Tigers have waited over a week to get back on the field. Friday they'll get their first chance since capturing their first district title in school history.
Fourth year head coach Kristin Williams reflected on her team's accomplishment as they prepare for Friday's game with Dalhart.
"It means everything to me these that girls work hard everyday for it," says Williams. "It's all about them but I am proud of these girls and the hard work they've put in," added Williams.
Sweetwater is making history in their own right.
The Mustangs advanced to their first area round game in school history after defeating Pecos 11-1 in the bi-district round.
"It's a history making event, says Sweetwater head coach Tony Heridia. "These girls have been playing softball for a long time. They all basically started when they were five years old and they stuck with it and this is the ultimate goal," added Heridia.
"It's just great because we've been playing together since we were little and we finally get to come together and get a win out of it and it's all paid off," says senior pitcher Maty Montgomery.
Snyder will face Dalhary Friday at 7 p.m in Plainview.
Sweetwater is set to face Pampa Friday at 6 p.m. at Lubbock Coronado.
