ABILENE, Texas - The Cowboys will open the season with a pair of exhibitions on August 24 and 28. The annual alumni game will be on the 24th at 2 p.m. and HSU will host Lubbock Christian on Aug. 28.
HSU then will travel to Odessa to play Texas-Permian Basin in the actual season opener on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. HSU then returns home for three straight games. Former ASC foe Texas Lutheran will come to Abilene on Sept. 2.
The Cowboys will host the ASC-SCAC Challenge on Sept. 6-7. HSU will play Trinity and Southwestern on back-to-back days and Texas-Dallas will be the other ASC foe in the tournament.
The next weekend HSU will travel to Tacoma, Wash., to play Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran, before returning home to face crosstown-rival McMurry on Sept. 19.
HSU opens the ASC slate on the road at Ozarks and Texas-Dallas, before returning home for four straight games against Mary Hardin-Baylor, Concordia, Louisiana College and Mississippi College.
Next up is a roadtrip to East Texas For Texas-Tyler and LeTourneau. The Cowboys then host East Texas Baptist for senior day on Oct. 26 and will close the regular season with a pair of road games at Howard Payne and then in Sherman for a neutral site meeting with UC-Santa Cruz.
The Cowboys return six starters and 20 lettermen from last year's team that went 10-6-2 overall and went 7-0-2 in the last nine games.
