High school football prospects test skills at ACU camp

Local athletes took to Abilene Christian Universities practice turf for ACU's final football prospect camp Friday evening. Serving as a  last chance opportunity to get some looks from the ACU football staff, the camp hosted high school athletes, and focused mainly on key skills positions while evaluations took place to give the coaching staff a chance to scout some local talent. But recruiting isn't all about who can make plays. Just ask Abilene Christian University's head football coach Ken Collums. "The last thing I tell my coaches, are do we know this guy? Who is he? What's his heart? Because ultimately here, that's what we're going to get the best out of. We're going to get the best out of him on the field, but also we're going to get the best out of him as a man, we're going to grow him as a man. It has to do with his heart. That's the reason in recruiting we talk about the heart a lot, but we focus on that quite a bit here when they get to school," Said Collums.
