ABILENE, Texas -

We tracked scattered thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening that produced locally heavy rainfall, frequent lightning and gusty winds.

The Abilene Regional Airport measured 0.86 inches of rain and the airport in Coleman picked up almost 1.6 inches of rain.

Drier air is forecast to filter in from the north Wednesday and push the better chances of rain into the Concho Valley and the Heartland for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Even these areas should see rain chances decreasing each day through Friday.

We are expecting more typical summertime weather for the weekend with mainly rain-free conditions and afternoon temperatures back in the middle to upper 90s.
