Anthony Domol: Early season heat continues Friday

ABILENE, Texas - Today we are starting out with temperatures in the lower 60s across central portions of the Big Country and areas southward. A weak wind shift / cold front has dropped readings into the upper 40s and lower 50s in our northern counties.

High clouds will be around through the day but not enough to stop us from warming to around 90 degrees. Northwest winds will turn to the southeast and blow from 5-15 mph.

Tonight scattered clouds will be with us as well as mild lows in the middle 60s. South winds start gaining speed and blowing at 10-15 mph.

A mix of clouds and sun are expected on Saturday as readings again take aim on the 90 degree mark. Southerly winds will become very breezy at 15-25 mph.

Sunday a dryline moves through our region from west to east in the late morning and early afternoon hours. Our eastern counties have the best chance for a shower or storm to develop as early as mid-afternoon. Many areas should stay dry and very warm around 90 degrees.

Winds are expected to be around 20-30 mph from the west through the day. Fire danger will be a concern on the back half of the weekend. A strong cold front traverses West Texas during the mid-late evening time frame.

Clouds linger into the first half of the day on Monday but a bit of sunshine breaks out during the afternoon. Look for much cooler highs in the upper 50s. North winds will be brisk from 20-30 mph.

Mostly sunny weather is in the forecast for Tuesday with a bit of moderation into the upper 60s. Clouds begin to increase on Wednesday but wet weather is not predicted. The thermometer reaches the mid 70s by day's end.

Thursday goes mostly cloudy with a slight chance for a few afternoon showers. Readings will push well into the 70s and may touch 80 degrees. Southeast winds are projected to be quite breezy.
