Anthony Domol: Peak of heat comes Friday, Saturday

ABILENE, Texas - Mostly clear skies are being seen this morning for all of us across West Texas. A few high clouds have been moving into the region from the northwest. Readings begin the day in the lower 70s as southeast winds remain light from 5-10 mph.

This afternoon mostly sunny skies are expected as temperatures return to the upper 90s.

Scattered high clouds and a few puffy cumulus clouds will float by but no rainfall will occur. Southeast winds blow at 10-15 mph.

Friday we track continued sunshine and hot weather conditions. Some high clouds will traverse West Central Texas but will not preclude significant warming. The mercury reaches 100 degrees plus for many locations. Dry weather persists as southerly winds come at us from 10-15 mph.

The first half of the weekend gives us bright sunshine and only a few afternoon clouds. Highs range from 100 to the lower 100s. Winds go from the south at 10-20 mph. An isolated shower or thundershower cannot be ruled out in the extreme northern and northwestern sections of the viewing area. Most of us remain rain-free.

Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday look to turn out very similarly with morning sunshine followed by some afternoon passing cloud development. Isolated thundershower chances will exist during peak heating in the afternoon and early evening hours. The thermometer tops out in the upper 90s each day. Southerly flow continues from 10-15 mph.

A mostly sunny Wednesday propels afternoon high temperatures into above normal territory in the upper 90s.
