ABILENE, Texas -

Tonight we are tracking a cold front moving southward through the Big Country. The front should be near Abilene around midnight and will clear the entire viewing area by Sunday morning. Many areas will be bottoming out around the freezing point. Variably cloudy skies are expected into the overnight.

Sunday begins with some clouds across the region but sunshine is expected to break out by the afternoon hours. Temperatures will not be helped out much, however, with daytime highs only getting into the lower and middle 40s. North winds will blow from 10-15mph.

Sunday night skies clear and lows plummet into the lower 20s.

Sunny skies and temperatures warming into the lower 50s is expected for Monday. Clear conditions remain for Monday night with lows dropping into the upper 20s.

Christmas Eve Tuesday keeps full sunshine going with the mercury making a substantial improvement to near 60 degrees.

A cold front moves through West Texas early on Christmas morning. This will prevent readings from rising much higher than around 50 on Wednesday afternoon. A mix of sun and clouds is in the forecast.

Thursday through Saturday mostly sunny skies are predicted with no important weather systems to bother us. Look for temps in the lower 50s on Thursday, the middle 50s on Friday, and nearing 60 degrees by next weekend.
