Anthony Domol: Sunny Thursday Ahead
Mostly sunny skies are expected on this Thursday with high temperatures remaining a bit chilly in the lower 50s. Winds will be light and variable today and become southerly in the afternoon.
Tonight mostly clear conditions lead us into Friday morning. Lows will bottom out in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees. Plentiful sunshine is in the forecast for Friday with the mercury headed for the middle and upper 50s across most of West Texas.
Southerly breezes begin to pick up from 10-20mph on Saturday as temperatures make a run for 60 degree territory. A mix of sun and clouds is predicted.
A strong cold front will be moving south into West Texas around sunrise on Sunday morning. Readings may in fact be falling through the 40s and into the 30s during the daylight hours. Much cooler air will be brought into the region on breezy northerly winds. Look for a period of cloud cover to accompany the passage of the front but no rainfall is currently projected for the back half of the weekend.
The good news is that as quickly as the late weekend cold air surge rolls into the area, just as quickly will it depart.
Monday remains chilly but temperatures will already be moderating into the lower 50s under sunny skies.
A warmer push of air arrives on Tuesday with the thermometer looking to crack 60 degrees. Sunshine should be the main weather feature.
Warmth may continue into Wednesday ahead of a developing weather system to our south and west of Pacific origins. This is a long ways off and much can change but some wet weather is a possibility in the mid-late week timeframe.
