ABILENE, Texas -

Tuesday we keep on going with the mild mid-December weather pattern across the Big Country. Sunshine will propel temperatures into the middle and upper 60s this afternoon. Winds will be light throughout the day.

Tonight mostly clear skies dominate the scene over West Central Texas. Lows are only expected to drop into the upper 30s to near 40 degrees.

Some high cloudiness enters the picture on Wednesday, but sunshine will power through enabling temperatures to approach the 70 degree mark. No rainfall is in the forecast. Southerly breezes from 10-20mph are likely.

High clouds will be around on Thursday also but strong warming pushes the mercury up and over 70 degrees by afternoon for most locations. South southwest winds will blow with gusto from 15-20mph with higher gusts.

A cold front moves through our region early on Friday morning and keeps temperatures down in the middle 50s through the day. Clouds will be increasing during the afternoon hours and showers look to develop from west to east late in the day and especially into the early hours of Saturday.

Widespread rain chances are maintained in the forecast for Saturday under cloudy skies. Readings will only make it into the upper 40s.

On the backside of developing low pressure to our east, temperatures are expected to struggle to make it to the upper 30s and lower 40s on Sunday. Rain will come to an end early in the day with decreasing clouds expected into the afternoon and evening.
