Will we finally get some rainfall here in Abilene today?
It looks like there is a good shot at some showers into the late morning and afternoon hours. This wet weather maker is an impulse which has spent much of the past several days over the northern Gulf of Mexico. It is now making its way northwestward into Texas and looks to bring some decent moisture with it. The heaviest rain will fall south of Abilene but the rain pattern should make it far enough north to give most of us a few showers.
We will look for clouds to increase through the morning hours and showers to become possible late morning through the afternoon. Areas like Brownwood and San Angelo stand the best chance for any heavier rainfall amounts. We will track this throughout the day. Severe weather is not expected. With clouds and precipitation in the forecast, we will get a break from the heat as temperatures will be held in check in the mid to upper 80s.
Tonight things dry out with temperatures dropping back into the lower 70s. We then look for a drier and warmer pattern to resume. Temperatures will rebound into the lower to mid 90s on Wednesday under partly cloudy skies. Moving forward we see sunny skies and readings making a move for the mid to even upper 90s. Very warm weather should continue right on through the Labor Day weekend.
