ABILENE, Texas -

The recent icy weather caused lots of travel problems, but it did not bring much needed moisture.  Most locations measured less that two hundredths of an inch of water during the past week.

Strong north winds are forecast to be back in the region Friday.  These will increase the wildfire risk for our area.  Watch out for wind speeds around 20 mph bringing slightly cooler and drier air back to our region.  High temperatures Friday should be in the middle 60s.

Winds should die down Friday night and temperatures should drop into the middle to upper 30s Saturday morning.

The wildfire risk will rise again as strong south to southwest winds around 20 mph with higher gusts are expected during the day for both Saturday and Sunday.

These winds will bring back warmer temperatures.  Look for highs in the low to middle 70s Saturday and in the low to middle 80s Sunday.

Another dry cold front is forecast to move in Monday and bring slightly cooler air back to our area for George Washington's Birthday.  Look for highs in the lower 70s Monday afternoon.

Fair skies, dry weather and mild temperatures are forecast to stay well into the week ahead.
