ABILENE, Texas -

A strong cold front will allow for record setting cold temperatures across the Big Country on Thursday.

A wind advisory is in effect for the Big Country until 7 pm Thursday evening for north winds from 25-35 mph.

The strong north winds and cloud cover will keep temperatures in the 40s across the area.

A strong upper level storm system will continue to push through the Plains and may allow for some light showers and sprinkles across the Big Country Thursday.

Thursday evening the sky will clear and winds will lighten as high pressure settles in.

This will create conditions that could allow temps to fall to freezing across the Big Country and Concho Valley.

Friday will be sunny and milder in the mid 60s.

This weekend is looking fantastic with temps back into the 70s with a mostly sunny sky.
