Look for several days of intense heat ahead but we're tracking the chance for relief by Sunday.
Plenty of sunshine will be on tap through the afternoon today with highs warming into the mid to upper 90s. South winds will be coming in at 10 to 15 mph.
Overnight, the clear skies will continue with temps cooling back into the mid 70s.
Wednesday, many will see highs warm into the triple digits as high pressure builds into the region.
We'll see a slow warm-up through the rest of the week and into the early part of the weekend with highs in the low triple digits for most of us by Saturday. Nighttime lows will cool into the mid 70s.
For the most part, rain chances will stay out of the forecast through Sunday. By then, this area of high pressure will shift north slightly, allowing a disturbance to move in from the east.
This disturbance will bring up abundant moisture from the Gulf of Mexico as well as slight rain chances Sunday and Monday.
