ABILENE, Texas -

This morning we have a beautiful open to our day with lots of sunshine and temperatures starting out in the upper 60s.

We will continue the trend of bringing in a few afternoon clouds and watching some isolated showers and thundershowers pop up on the radar screen. Any thundershowers that do develop will have the potential to drop some localized heavy rainfall. It is expected, though, that many of us will once again stay dry. Temperatures will peak around 90 degrees.

Tonight look for any rainfall to end during the evening hours as we lose daytime instability. A mostly fair sky will take us into the overnight hours. Lows will be in the upper 60s.

Friday a mix of clouds and sun are in the forecast with readings near 90 degrees. We are tracking the approach of a cool front which may touch off a few showers and thundershowers especially north of I-20. The best chance for any wet weather will be in the afternoon and evening hours.

Saturday and Sunday look like generally dry weather days to go out and have fun at the Fair and Rodeo. A stray shower or thundershower cannot be ruled out either day with a very moisture-rich atmosphere remaining in place. Highs will approach 90 degrees both afternoons.

A disturbance in the Gulf continues to be monitored for early next week. Latest thinking is that the heaviest rainfall will stay well south of us into Mexico. Nevertheless, the moist flow around this system should continue our tropical-like weather pattern of afternoon pop-up thundershower possibilities.
