Chelsea Humphrey: Tracking one more day of extreme heat
The triple digits are in the forecast Friday afternoon but cooler weather is in the forecast.
Today we're warming into the 102 to 107 degree range. We'll see mostly clear skies through much of the day but a cold front is set to move through later this afternoon. As the front interacts with the very warm air, there is a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms.
Overnight the rain chances will end but we'll see partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will cool into the mid 70s by Saturday morning. By the afternoon we're tracking highs around 98 degrees. Friday's cold front will stall out, helping the rain chances continue into Saturday as well.
Overnight Saturday we'll see more showers as a reinforcing shot of cool air moves in from the north. By Sunday morning we've cooled down to around 70 degrees.
Sunday, we'll see the rain chances continue as a disturbance moves through the region. We'll see more cloud cover and highs in the low 90s.
As we head into the work week, we'll start the day around 70 degrees. Showers continue in the Concho Valley thanks to another disturbance. We'll see highs around 90 degrees with a bit more cloud cover.
Things look to dry out Tuesday with afternoon temperatures through Thursday staying in the low 90s. Overnight we'll see partly cloudy skies with lows in the upper 60s and low 70s.
