Hot late September weather will continue on Thursday across West Central Texas with highs around 93 degrees.
Sunny skies can be expected through today's morning hours with just a few fair weather cumulus clouds developing towards the afternoon. Very breezy southerly winds at 15-20 mph with higher gusts will drive in the very warm air.
Tonight clear skies will be the forecast with lows in the mid to upper 60s and breezy winds from the south continuing at 10-15 mph.
On Friday, we will see a cold front getting closer to our area from the west and we will watch for its impacts over the weekend. Friday afternoon will turn out hot once again with temperatures around 90 degrees and extremely breezy south winds rolling in at 15-20 mph. A sun / cloud mix is in the forecast as much more humid air overspreads the area.
Showers and thunderstorms will become possible during the morning hours on Saturday and extend into the afternoon and evening as the cold front moves slowly through the region. Some locally heavy downpours will be possible. With increased cloud cover and precipitation, expect high temperatures on Saturday to be held into the lower 80s.
Due to the slow progress of the front through our region, we will see a continued chance for showers into the first half of Sunday especially in our southern counties. Sunday will produce temperatures in the lower 80s.
Sunshine will return early next week with temperatures potentially making another run at above normal territory. A 90 degree reading once again appears within reach.
