Tracking Tuesday night storm chances
Above normal temperature air is already found over our region. This should stay with us until a cold front moves in early Thursday.
We have been tracking a strong upper level low moving eastward from the west coast. The main portion of this system is forecast to pass to our north. However, small pieces of it should move through our area.
One of them is forecast to move through our region Tuesday night / Wednesday morning a help trigger scattered thunderstorms. Storms could be severe and produce large hail and damaging winds. Other dangers we are tracking are frequent lightning and heavy rainfall.
The severe storm risk looks to shift east of our area by Wednesday afternoon. But locally heavy rainfall will continue to be danger for mainly areas east of Abilene into Wednesday evening.
Clearing skies are forecast for Thursday with nice weather for Thursday evening.
We are already tracking another system that could bring thunderstorms back to our area Monday.
