Wintry weather expected
The cold air raced back into our region Thursday evening. Temperatures will continue to fall through midday Friday. Most of the region should be at or below freezing before sunrise Friday.
This very cold air will keep our temperatures below freezing for most of the time Friday through Monday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory or Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect for most of our area for Friday.
Light showers are expected in our area Friday and Friday night that could cause ice to form on mainly objects above the ground. Your car sitting outside could receive a coating of ice as well as bridges and overpasses. Be extra careful traveling and give yourself extra time to reach your destination.
We are tracking an upper level low pressure area that is forecast to move into our region late Saturday. This feature is expected to bring heavier showers. Watch out for freezing rain and sleet that could create at least 1/4 inch of ice Saturday night into Sunday.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for most of our area for Saturday and Sunday for possibility of significant icing that would create major travel problems. We also could have issues with ice on power lines and trees that could cause them to break and fall.
Rain or sleet could return Sunday night into Monday morning - continuing possible travel troubles for Monday morning.
Showers are expected to finally move east of our area Monday night. Look for clearing skies Tuesday and nice weather for Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day.
